Cycle the WAVE (Women Against Violence Everywhere), is a fully supported, non-competitive, all-women’s cycling event. It is a venue created for women of all ages and fitness levels to experience camaraderie, increase awareness of domestic violence through visibility and to raise funds for domestic violence programs across Washington State.  See here for recipients of 2013 funds.

The first ride in 2008 generated 233 riders and by 2013 participation had grown to 1,206 women riders of all ages. In 2014, we anticipate hosting over 1400 women cyclists!

ROUTE OPTIONS (All routes subject to change without notice. Please check back just before ride day for any changes.)
Little Sister - 14 miles
Girly Girl – 29.5 miles
Middle Sister – 37 miles (or 45 miles with additional Newcastle loop with Burly Girls.)
Burly Girl - 61 miles

Four routes are offered this year to accommodate all rider levels. All routes will include a variety of terrain (roads, trails, climbs and descents).

For our newer riders the Little Sister is a route along a gently steady grade going out and back towards Issaquah on Newport Way.  The Girly Girl route includes scenic views around Lake Sammamish with a few climbs. The Middle Sister offers additional miles through Redmond before rejoining the Girly Girls around Lake Sammamish.   It concludes with an optional climb joining the Burly Girls over Cougar Mountain adding 8 more miles.  For more experienced cyclists, we offer the Burly Girl with beautiful scenery and just under 4000 feet of climbing, traveling through 5 beautiful Eastside cities.  Cyclists selecting this route should be comfortable with steep descents, roadways without shoulders, traffic and long climbs.
